Elder Malolo on the move. Spain, Madrid Mission

Hi everyone!
This is Elder Malolo's mother. He has been ill for a little bit. He has also been transferred to Cuenca, Spain.  He was too ill to transfer out the day that he was supposed to go. With tremendous faith and the right remedies that we sent over to him as soon as we found out he will ill, hopefully Elder Malolo will be feeling better soon.
I will continue to keep you updated on his writings as I receive them!
Much love to all xoxo

Pokémon GO cheerleaders

Hola fambamington
This week wasn't too eventful...but hey we still got work done! We
spent a lot of time on the street (welcome to the Madrid Spain
Mission) and talking to a lot of people and only being able to stop
the Latin Americans (Thank you Lamanites). We found a lot of people on
the street this week that used to attend the church on Sunday or as a
kid and as they got older just forgot about it. They saw us on the
street and come up to us telling us how much fun they used to have
coming to church and so we were able to testify to them that they will
have just as much fun because church IS FUN!! And 3 of them came last
Sunday which was so cool!
The name of the title is basically the new name of the
missionaries here in B3. We all agreed if we see people on the street
fighting a Pokemon we would start cheering them on. This week we were
able to cheer on 11 people in the street and what's even more awesome
is that other people would join us in the cheering!!
The best moment was on a bus, a woman in front of us was fighting a
Pokemon and so I stand up and I start yelling "Venga!!!! Matalo!!!!"
And everyone on the bus just starts cheering her on and in the end she
finally won and everyone starts applauding haha it was actually really
cool.
Other than that it was a pretty normal week, teaching them people
and spreading the word. This week is gonna be a fun one and also
transfers are on Saturday so maybe I could be moving, maybe not. WHO
KNOWS!!
I hope you all have a good week and help out those lost sheep.
Remember, members are missionaries!!

"Os vais, o venís"?

Buenos días familia mía!!
This week we were able to meet a lot of interesting people! We were
able to show our futbol skills with some chavales. Most
importantly...spread the "good news"!:) let's begin shall we not!?
So we haven't discovered the full map of our small area so we
decided to take adventures this week and walk until our feet became
nubs! In the process we were able to find all sorts of people from all
sorts of countries! Well, here in Spain you will find just about any
person! I am just the only Polynesian here though...buuuut we met a
woman in the street from the Dominican Republic who stopped me cause
she knew I was Samoan!! Weird right?? She was telling me how she loves
watching the Samoan 7s Rugby team...I was like, you are awesome! She
came to English classes and then to church!
Another man we met was from Romania who spoke fluent English, he saw
us and thought I was a construccion worker cause I have big arms, I
said no...I just work out! But he was really nice and he was huge..he
was a security guard for a strip club! Oh the people I know!
Last was a woman who believed and "knew" I was born in Gijon because
of my Spanish accent and that my English was so bad that I had to have
just learned it from school...sooooo kind of compliment kind of a shot
taken at me, but whatever's.
As for sports skills, while we explored we passed by a turf futbol
field and I saw the keepers were not keepers and so I asked hem "Hey
I'll play keeper if you pay for me to get in" and they let us in! My
companion was a forward in England so he played up. Long story short,
we won and they invited us to come play again, and then offered to buy
us athletic clothes because we played in church clothes!
Something totally awesome this week is a man from my last area is
getting baptized on Saturday! The reason I am pumped is because he had
to take a huge change in his life. He was a homeless man who was an
alcoholic. We have been through a lot together! He came to the church
building one time with no socks and blisters on his feet so I gave him
my socks and he began to thank me a lot and said one day he will pay
me back haha. Also bad moments, he ca,e to sacrament drunk and so I
had to carry him out and we gave him a good talk outside the church.
When I left, he had been sober for 4 days. He has now been sober for 2
months and is planing on never drinking again! I couldn't be more
proud of him!
What I get from this is of course we all have challenges but it
depends on our attitude and our desires to overcome them! Whether it
be drinking, pornography, marriage, or anything! There's nothing we
can't do, we can do anything, it's just hard to get there. In the
process we WILL fall, and we will have to fall so we can learn and
progress. It's a long hard process, but it's worth it. Trust me!
I hope you all have a bomb week, cause I know I will!! 6 months to
sexy has begun...ill see you all in summer next year!;)

Don't be a douche RM..

Hola chavales!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Despite the title, this week was freakin boooooooomb!! Let's begin with Monday not being a PDay. Usually on Tuesday I have to give an informe of the week and my District. Buuuuut because we had an early lesson we decided to skip studies so we could get there on time, and that day we had 6 planned lessons that went through! What the FREAK!? That never happens here so I was pumped and the whole day we didn't have time to do anything but get to our lessons.
On Wednesday we had temple day and it was so great, I advice everyone to go to the temple with a question or a scripture you have been wondering about and to study it. You will receive your answer if the Lord wants to and if you really desire to know! What I studied was temples. While I was there I read in the Guide to the Scriptures that "The temples holiness is closely followed by the Spirit that we can feel inHOME!!!! I was like "Why haven't I read this before!?" Surprisingly enough the whole week was spent sharing the message of eternal families. And yes, there were many tears shed in 85% of the houses we went to.
After that we played basketball, but of course the teams were picked by Zone Leaders and one side was completely dominant...but I ain't even mad!!! What I did get to do was box with my Zone Leader cause he followed me to my new area! So we brought out the gloves and sparred and I might have punched an Elder in the face, but that's a different story;)
On Friday we had ZUMBA CLASSES!!!!!!!! I forgot to tell you all that I have been teaching the Zumba for 3 weeks now and the stake president told me he has never seen so many people come to one activity consecutively before!! Not only that but we have received 5 new investigators from it!!!
Now, onto the title of the email. The last Zumba class I did an RM came up to me and pulled me aside and started ripping into me about how I can't do the activity anymore. Because I don't take crap from no man, I ask him if he was a church leader. He said no, so I asked why cant I do the activity. He said "because missionaries aren't allowed to dance!" I go "Who said that?" He told me it was in the White Handbook (Missionary Manual) I take out my white handbook and I give it to him and I said "here, show me where it says I can't dance and come and tell me when you do." I went on and finished my class. Afterward he gave it back without saying a word and I take out the red church handbook and give it to him and tell him to find it in there. He said it isn't, and I go "Yeah I know." He walks off all bitter that I just destroyed him.
Please please please, if you are about to return home soon, do not be a Mean RM.

Last but not least we finally did it.....we put our Chinese investigators on date and I even gave the opening prayer IN CHINESE!!!!!! I am now a Chinese elder;) But we are excited and so is our friend, he had been praying to know how he can, in his words, "Be numbered upon the people of God" it could not have gotten more golden than that!!:) Today we are gonna chill in the mall, and walk into stores that don't carry my size....cuidados!;)

Sports, Sports, Sports

Hola familia!!!!
This week we got a lot of new missionaries to my District and we
are the most athletic District in the world! So we are taking that to
our advantage, playing soccer, football, volleyball, basketball and
Ecuavoli. Let's just leave it at, all we do is win! We have also
challenged people to come to church and what I did is one day told a
woman on the street to come dance on Friday (Zumba Activity) she
didn't believe me that I was going to teach it and she came!! She
swear her butt off and then she came to church on Sunday! Fun times!!
Not too much went on we had a big leaders meeting this week, we
spent a lot of time contacting and funny enough we actually found a
lot of less active people and we now have a lot of meetings with them.
The other day we set a baptismal date with a man name Alexander
from the Dominican Republic, he is awesome and he hates reading but he
knows the Book of Mormon is important!
Other than that just a lot with working with members, they didn't
have a good relationship with old missionaries, but have no fear,
Elder Malolo with a ukulele is here!
I love you all sorry for the short email but I have to play
basketball or I will get killed...

Have a goods times chavales!!

Have a Happy Gay Day! Hate the sin not the sinner! Elder Taylor Malolo in Barrio 3, Spain Madrid Mission

What's the up everyone,
I bet you are wondering why my title is have a happy gay day!
Don't think too much about it. Soooo as an American this day is very
special, fireworks, burgers, and American stuff. Here in the wonderful
country of Europa, today is Gay Pride day. So instead of all those
wonderful things I have seen men walking around in speedos and very
immodestly dressed women, which is basically what Spain is anyways!
So....happy Gay Pride Day, hate the sin not the sinner!
This week has been very sad actually. I hate to say it but my
companion will be going home due to his deteriorating Achilles, it's
really sad to see him go. Even though we have been throwing out going
home jokes all transfer so it's been pretty funny!
We weren't allowed to leave or do too much work because the
President and his Wife don't want his situation to get worse so I
spent a lot of time perfecting the art of Paper Airplanes and dancing
for a Zumba Activity I will be doing with JAS this Friday. I have been
watching my companion pack and singing sappy love songs cause we think
it's funny and trying to keep him pumped about doing missionary work
at home.
We decided to pull a prank on the other elders last night. So a
member called us (he is an RM) and he wanted an agenda so he can teach
his brother to use one before he goes on a mission. It was about
10:45pm so we were in piso. I also had to do my DL calls so when he
came I called the other elders and told them we were at a church party
and that they should come. They were FLIPPING out!! They didn't
believe me but I was like "a friend wants to say hello" and I gave the
phone to the member who was telling them to come to the party and that
they won't tell President about it. They freaked out and hung up and
threatened to call President. They call me back and they say "I hope
you repent tonight..." Blah blah blah all this stuff about how bad I
am for going to a party then we told them about the joke and they were
so relieved because they were scared that if they told President I
would beat them up hahahaha.

Other than that I had an ok week, kinda sad, kinda fun!

This week my studies were full of "Testimony" scriptures and just
testimonies of Prophets and it reminded me of a talk by President
Uchtdorf called "The Power of a Personal Testimony" and he explains
how to gain one and why it is important. I invite you all to read this
talk, and to think of your testimony. There are only 2 things we can
do with them, Strengthen them, or lose them. Strive, or push yourself
to strengthen it everyday. DO NOT get caught in the "real world"
because when we are focused on the "real world" we have forgotten our
"real purpose". If you do not know what I mean, there is another talk
I would like you to read called "True Millenials" by President Russell
M Nelson.

I hope you all have a good week!! This week we find out transfers so
hang tight to see what happens next!! I love you guys!

This week was suck. Elder Taylor Malolo in Barrio 3 Madrid, Spain

Hola fammmmm
Well as you can see the title to this email is "this week was
suck". Because this week was suck. Well ok, it wasn't super suck, it
just wasn't super awesome so therefore it was suck. But hey some cool
things happened this week, let's talk about thooooooose!!!
We found a ton of people this week, and one of the, particularly
was a woman whose whole family was baptized instead of her and at one
point in her life she said ok, whoever talks to me first whether it be
Jehovahs Witnesses, Adventists, Catholics, I'll join them. Funny thing
is the Mormons found her MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA but for real, we were
contacting on the street and I got into the "im gonna talk to
everyone" mood and she was in her balcony and I called out to her and
she let us in....there was a man, don't worry...but we taught her and
she agreed to be baptized in August!! Pretty cool miracle especially
cause you know...just someone chillin on a balcony haha.
This week we had a lot of activities as well, such as a big one in
a park so we went and invited a lot of people who ended up not going
but I ended up doing a standing backflip...yeah, I weight like 240
now, the things you can do when you lose 60lbs in your mission am I
right?
This week was just filled with contacting and talking to drunk
people in bars and trying to play people at soccer, which was alright
but it could've been better. I'm excited for next week and I hope you
all are too!!!
Get out there and show the world what it's like to be a member of
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!!

"Que bestia este portero!"

Holaaaaaaa Familia!!
Every week of this transfer has been so long and we get so much
done, lllllleeeeetttsss get started!!
Last week we met a lot of people on the street and set up a ton of
lessons which actually went through! (Doesn't happen to often!) long
story short we have put about 5 people on date and maybe I'll be here
for them! We are super excited because this area was "nothing" when I
got here and we are just turning it around. We were told we wouldn't
be able to do it and that President might shut it down cause it was so
bad, which gives us the POWER and the OBLIGATIONS to work that much
harder. We are doing big things out here and seeing miracles as we do
it.
This week I saw something very very very interesting, something
that's done here in Spain but not in the US. It's called "La despedida
de la vida soltera". Translated to English is "Farewell to the lonely
life" because the person is getting married. The person goes around
town with his or her friends and the friends are dressed up as police
and the one getting married is dressed up as a prisoner. Another long
story short, they basically try to get as many people to kiss the
person who will be married soon as many times as possible......to say
the least!
Every Saturday we go play futbol with investigators but this week
only one came and all the other missionaries decided to bail out cause
they heard it was going to rain (there was not a cloud in the sky) so
I was like "we are going to find some chavales and we are gonna play!"
After walking around for a while we found a giant group of 30-40
chavales playing futbol on a cement court and I went up to them and
asked if we could join, after a bit of convincing we were allowed to
play. I got picked on a different team than my companion and our
investigator so I didn't know a single person. We started playing the
first game and I was pretty for from the goal. The ball was bouncing
toward me and just being pesado I wanted to shoot it, so I kicked it
off the volley and it went in! Then everyone gained respect for me
haha buuuuuuutttttttttttt later I missed a ton of goals...so I was
like you know what, Ima be keeper! So I trade out with our keeper, and
we started playing again. Another long story short, after playing 11
games, we never left the field and I never got scored on. Theeeeeeen
here comes the blessings from being a beast keeper.
As I was packing up my stuff the chavales were like "no, please
stay one more game!!". After thinking for a little, I look around at
the 40 chavales all looking at me and I say "if I can share a message
about Christ I will play one more!" They all agreed, so I shared the
Restoration with them. Some were bored and wanted to play, some were
attentive and actually asked questions after Ward. That day we
received 29 references in about 10 minutes haha and we have a lot of
lessons set for this week!

Now, as for a more spiritual side of my week. I was reading in the
Libro de Mormón. In 3 Nefi 27 and it says this
33 And it came to pass that when Jesus had ended these sayings
he said unto his disciples: Enter ye in at the strait gate; for strait
is the gate, and narrow is the way that leads to life, and few there
be that find it; but wide is the gate, and broad the way which leads
to death, and many there be that travel therein, until the night
cometh, wherein no man can work.
Something super weird that we were talking about, my companion
and I, is sometimes when it's night time Jesus asks his disciples to
pray so "they don't fall into temptation". Also it says in the Libro
de Mormón in Alma 41
5 The one raised to happiness according to his desires of
happiness, or good according to his desires of good; and the other to
evil according to his desires of evil; for as he has desired to do
evil all the day long even so shall he have his reward of evil when
the night cometh.
We thought to ourselves, why do they get their reward at night?
Thinking to ourselves of the scary Polynesian superstitions that
happen at night, all the crazy things that happen to us both at night.
We realized that night time is just dangerous in general! We also
realized something else.
If we, as Christians, believe in God we have to believe that
Satan exists. If we know what Satans plan is and how he works we know
that there are evil spirits here upon the earth. We have  stories in
the Bible of demons being cast out all the time. I just want to take
this time to warn you all, and to please ask you all not to "fall into
temptation". The Profets have said time and time again "early to bed,
early to rise". Why do you believe they tell us this? For our health?
Yes. Because "People die in beds, and so does ambition"? Yes. But
there is more! It sounds crazy, but it ain't! Haha so there is my
crazy rant on the night. Have a great week and do something good, the
Lord wouldn't give you another day of life for no reason, am I right!?

Good TImes again In Barrio 3 Madrid Spain Mission with Elder Taylor Malolo

The reason I started in Utah. Elder Taylor Malolo In Barrio 3 Madrid, Spain

I cannot explain to you the amount of miracles that have happened
this week!! Let me just start off by saying this area wasn't much when
I got here. Elder Whiteman is a very misunderstood missionary here and
we talked last week in our companionship inventory that this area just
needs to blow up. IT DID. We went out and we worked our "pompis" off!
The amount of blessings and miracles we have seen gave me a strong
testimony of our mission President. I would follow that man to war!!
This week we had a big zone conference and the presidents wife stands
up and asks "does anybody have any experiences or stories they want to
share about keeping the 50 goal?" The 50 goal is each companion
starting a conversation with 50 people daily which means you
automatically talk with 100 people a day. No one raised their hand. I
raised mine and bore testimony of our Mission President and everyone's
jaw just dropped! It's funny that people think they follow Christ but
don't follow the Mission President called by Him!!
We have about 4 baptisms coming up soon and we are stoked but I
want to particularly speak of one of them.
Last week I told you we are learning Chinese to speak with our
Chinese investigator. We were failing at that haha so we were walking
down the street talking about how we can do better with her and I say
"I had a friend in Utah who learned Japanese, Chinese, and
Burmese....maybe he can help?" We think for a sec and go...WE NEED TO
FIND ELDER CHAU (my friend from the Utah mission) we get a member to
find him on Facebook and he emails me one day and says "I am ready
whenever you want!" I was so excited!!!
So the day comes and we meet with the Chinese girl and to be
completely honest we didn't know a thing about her! As we start the
Skype call Brother Chau is there and he says "I brought a friend!" His
friend comes in and he served his mission in Canada and says to us in
English "I didn't serve in Chinese but I should be able to communicate
with her" he begins speaking to her in Chinese and she starts crying!!
Why?? I'll tell you why.
This woman, born in China grew up a normal life, not knowing the
gospel. About 3 years ago she found out about God and Jesus Christ and
she wanted to follow the path to eternal life. Her husband didn't
agree with that. Neither did her family, or the government. So she got
an official divorce from her husband, left her 2 year old child and
family. Left China all behind to come to Spain and SEARCH FOR GOD!
In her search for happiness she went to many churches and didn't
feel they were right. 3 years later she walked into our LDS church
with her google translate and types out "I believe in God, can you
help me?"
She attends church here for 3 weeks and then tells our Chinese
friends that even though she doesn't understand Spanish. She feels the
spirit and she knows that this is the church of God.

How many of us think we have testimonies? I bet a lot of us do. But
how much of that testimony comes from your heart? Does it come from
your parents? Your friends? Reading quotes from conference and using
them as if you thought of them on your own?
I can tell you this...testimony, doesn't have the word "test" in it
for no reason. Go out and find your own testimony and strengthen it
each and every day. Your testimony today will not be the same
tomorrow. It will be strengthened or weakened. GET TO WORK!!!!

Wǒ de míngzì shì Malolo Zhǎnglǎo Elder Taylor Malolo In Madrid Spain

Hola Familia!!!!
I can't tell you how interesting my mission has been up to this
point. From learning hardcore Spanish in the North, to learning
African Dialects and Romanian in Torrejon. I now have to learn
Mandarin Chinese here in Barrio 3!! Talk about the gift of tongues!!
We have a family of Chinese people who don't speak English or Spanish
but showed up at church, using google translate said "we are looking
for the true church!" So we are now attempting to learn Chinese and
teach them Spanish! Fun stuff over here!
This week was very interesting. Let's start off by me and my
companion almost getting arrested!!!
So we are doing service with the other elders and this woman who
is moving a bunk bed. While  Elder Whiteman and I were taking it down
with screwdrivers and stuff the other elders me the woman leave to the
store to grab some more tools. We had no idea..so we are just chilling
taking apart a bed and all of a sudden someone starts banging on the
front door. We look at each other like huh, the others will get it.
The person keeps banging and ringing the bell and eventually breaks
the door down and the police start running in and get us like "GET OUT
OF THE HOUSE NOW!!!!" I'm just like what the heck is going on!? So I
put my iPad away and put the tools away while cops are yelling at us
in Spanish and we go outside and find out we were the only ones in the
house. What turns out is the woman we were helping lives with her
friend and her friend hasn't paid the bills for years! They got
evicted!! The police give us 30min to bring things out of the house
and it's just me and elder Whiteman!! So we start throwing things
outside and long story short we emptied a house in 25minutes. The
police tell us if we would've done something else (I didn't know what
they were trying to say) they would have arrested us and thrown us in
jail. I was kinda bummed. I want a jail story in my mission!!
Something else that happened is a missionary tried to escape the
mission so we were all on the lookout for him and then we get a call
telling us to go to the most populated Renfe/Metro/Bus station in the
mission to look for him. So we go and we had to take off our chapas
and search for him, but we never found him. They found him later in
the day 8 hours later. Crazy stuff!!
As for weird stories that's all that happened. But let's go to a
cool story! So we are walking the streets talking to people and there
is this woman that looks at me and I'm like "she's gettin baptized" as
she goes by I try to stop her and she ignores me and rolls on by. So
we keep going. After 10 minutes the woman was running to us and goes.
"I am a member of your church! When you said hello to me I couldn't
handle it knowing that I had done wrong and I am too scared to go to
church. I thought about it and I need to come back. I need help!" So
we invite her and get h r information and she came to church on
Sunday!! Super cool!! Sometimes there are people who feel they aren't
worthy enough to go back to church but we all have a second chance!
Never give up! Never give in, and keep fighting!!
Also, a ward mission leader saw me throwing some capoeira kicks
and he is a Muay Thai kick boxer. He wants to spar with me some day so
if I get knocked the heck out some time, you know why!
I love you all have an awesome week!!
